The story
Kyo-yaki is the pottery of Kyoto, the old capital. It grew up around the tea ceremony and the temples and merchant houses of the city, and never had a single kiln or a single style.
Potters such as Nonomura Ninsei, in the 1600s, brought refined painting to the ware, and ever since, Kyoto pieces have been known for delicate forms and decoration.
