Rooted in the Yoshidaya tradition, this soy sauce dispenser celebrates the harmony of flowers and birds through rich, expressive decoration. The detailed motifs bring life and warmth to the table, reflecting the artistry of classic Japanese ceramics. Carefully shaped for smooth, controlled pouring, it balances beauty with everyday practicality. Both functional vessel and decorative piece, it transforms a simple seasoning into a moment of appreciation for craftsmanship and seasonal elegance.

Like all our pieces, it reflects the wabi-sabi philosophy: finding beauty in natural asymmetry, texture and the marks of a handmade process.

The details

About this piece

A small pourer keeps soy sauce on the table in its own beautiful vessel, and lets each person add just what they need.

The material

Porcelain is fired at a very high temperature until the clay turns dense, hard and smooth. It is thin for its strength, takes bright colour and fine painting well, and rings clearly when tapped.

Its character

Glazes and decoration vary slightly from piece to piece, so yours may differ a little from the photograph. That is part of how ceramics are made.

Our story

The fire of stone

Ishi no KA means “the fire of stone”: the place where raw earth meets heat and becomes something lasting.

We choose each piece in Tokyo, working with kilns and workshops across Japan, and we keep their small natural variations, because imperfection is the mark of a human hand.
